Enhanced Access

Enhanced Access is a service introduced by the NHS in October 2022.

It requires GP practices to provide additional appointments to patients during evenings and weekends. This in turn means you can access healthcare appointments at a time more convenient for you.

This is being delivered at PCN-level, meaning our member GP practices in the Melton, Syston and the Vale Primary Care Network, will share the provision of the service.

Primary Care Networks (PCNs) already provide Enhanced Access appointments between the hours of 6.30pm to 8pm Monday to Friday and between 9am – 5pm on a Saturday. As the Enhanced Access service is delivered across the PCN – not every practice will be open during these extended hours.

From April 2026, Enhanced Access will be available at Latham House Medical Practice town centre site, instead of the Asfordby Surgery.

The PCN enhanced hours will be delivered at Latham House on Saturdays (two weeks) and Jubilee Medical Practice, Syston (for one week) on a rolling three-week rotation.

  • Week 1 – Latham House Medical Practice
  • Week 2 – Latham House Medical Practice
  • Week 3 – Syston Jubilee Medical Practice

SATURDAY CLINICS ARE FOR PRE-BOOKED APPOINTMENTS ONLY.

THERE ARE NO WALK IN OR URGENT SERVICES AVAILABLE DURING ENHANCED ACCESS HOURS.

Please be aware that Saturday clinics are for pre booked appointments only. It is not a walk-in service, and the venue is not open for general practice enquiries. All requests still need to be made to practices during their normal opening hours.
